VisakhapatnamAs part of ‘Rail users/customers facilitation fortnight’ from May 26 to June 9, a seminar on innovative methods for improving the passenger amenities was held in the DRM’s conference hall at Visakhapatnam on Tuesday. Dean of International Affairs and Public Relations, Andhra University, Prof. B. Mohan Venkata Ram, having  vast knowledge in traffic safety management, addressed the forum. 
 
Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair Division, Chandralekha Mukherjee, speaking on the occasion, said that the motive behind the programme is primarily directed towards the passenger amenities, customer facilitation, interaction with the public and moreover to invite innovative ideas and suggestions from this forum.  
 
Prof. B. Mohan Venkata Ram while sharing his experience in the transportation sector and also association with Railways made a mention that Railways play a vital role for promoting civilisation and the Railways integrate the different cultural ethos throughout the nation. He stressed on the cleanliness to be observed by the rail users. 
 
The Members of Divisional Rail Users Committee (DRUC) advised to provide Electronic GPRS destination indication boards in coaches, provision of additional platforms to be commensurate with the increased train services at Visakhapatnam Railway Station, while the Members of Recognised Railway Unions suggested for innovative  measures 
 
DRM said that some of the valuable points raised by the forum are noted down for immediate improvement as far as the practicability is concerned and for the remaining points  necessary  action would be taken for looking into the maintainability of the enhanced amenities.
