He’s officially ‘okay’ after falling off a horse early this year and now, Ranveer Singh is back in action  promoting the upcoming, Dil Dhadakne Do. But what was he doing during this period of forced inactivity? “It was definitely not the case of an empty mind being the devil’s workshop. I watched all those films I had missed, Badlapur, Mary Kom... It was a wonderful cinematic experience. I also watched some Italian and Spanish films and a few Hollywood films too.

“I have now started physiotherapy and my hand is improving (the actor had injured a shoulder when he fell off). I am also waiting to get back to work,” he says. The past few months have been beneficial in another way for the actor  a lot of family time. “This was the first time that I really bonded with my dad and sister. Dad had always allowed me to do whatever I wanted to do in life and always supported me.”

Ranveer also feels sorry for his father who is currently looking into the legal issues that had sprung up following the AIB Roast. “I am feeling very sorry for my dad who has to look into this issue as I am busy with work,” he says, “This is his time to rest but he has to follow up.” On a different note he adds, “I feel happy when icons like Anil Ji (Kapoor) and Govinda praise my work. Also, getting a letter from Amitabh Bachchan, made me feel on seventh heaven.”

Reminiscing about his childhood, Ranveer says,  “I remember I had been to a puja in Anilji’s house when I was in class 3 — I had three studs in the ear, a fat little boy with two front teeth missing with a mohawk. During the puja he looked at me and asked my Dadaji, ‘Who is this guy? Yeh zindagi mein jarur kuch karenga.’

The actor adds that he is not all about monkeying about. “I am over-sensitive and I’m always thinking and to counter this habit, I project my lighter side as sort of a defense mechanism, which makes it easier for me to be cheerful.” Ranveer, who plays Priyanka Chopra’s brother in Dil Dhadakne Do, adds, “I played her friend in Gunday and am playing her brother in DDD, while in Baji Rao, she is my wife. But I can truly confess, mein Priyanka ka achcha bhai hu.”
