Kannada actress alleges sexual assault by politician

She has lodged a complaint at the Women Police Station and also with the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce

SHIVAMOGGA: A Kannada actress has alleged that a member of the Congress party, Hosamane Kumar aka ‘Flower’ Kumar, attempted to sexually assaulted her after calling her for a shoot for his movie in Shivamogga here last week.

The police said that Kumar, who pretended to be the producer of a movie – Bisilu Kudure, had called her for the shooting in the city on May 21.

The actress, her mother, brother and other artists were brought to Shivamogga from Bengaluru. Kumar, who was in the house where they were staying, tried to sexually assault her at  night. He also threatened her not to reveal the incident to anyone as she was returning to Bengaluru on May 22.

The cops said she lodged a complaint at the Women Police Station and also with the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday. BJP Yuva Morcha members on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to the SP Ravi D. Channannavar asking him to take action against Kumar.
