50th Bangalore University convocation today

Higher Education Minister R.V. Deshpande will be the chief guest

Bengaluru: At the 50th convocation of Bangalore University to be held on Saturday, BSc graduate Sandhya G.A. of AES National College, Gowribidanur, will be honoured with 8 gold medals and 6 cash awards for securing 95.83 per cent marks.

Aruna S.N., a Kannada MA student, will be honoured with 7 gold medals for securing second place by scoring 80.95 per cent in PG. Bharath K.M., (MSc Chemistry), will be honoured with five gold medals and two cash awards for securing third place by scoring 76.65 per cent.

Leelavathi D.B. will share the honor with five gold medals and one cash award for scoring 90.2 per cent in M.Sc. Jyothi Pal Saluja, who has won four gold medals and three cash awards, is a housewife and a student of New Horizon College of Education in the city. Releasing the list of gold medalists and rank holders here on Friday, VC B. Thimmegowda said 47,202 students will be given degree certificates.

Parvathamma Rajkumar, wife of Dr. Rajkumar, educationist G.K. Narayana Reddy and S. Chinnaswamy Mamballi will be honored with honorary doctorates. Ved Prakash, Chairman, UGC, will deliver the convocation address. Governor Vajubhai Vala will preside over the function. Higher Education Minister R.V. Deshpande will be the chief guest.
