Cabin crew arrested after allegedly smuggling gold jewellery worth over Rs 10 crore

New Delhi: Two Virgin Atlantic cabin crew have been arrested for allegedly smuggling 4.2 kg of gold worth over Rs 10 crore, while working on a flight to India.

According to a report published in the Daily Mail, the cabin crew have been accused of wearing the gold or hiding it in their hand luggage on the flight from London to Delhi.

India’s Directorate of Revenue Intelligence intercepted the duo, when they landed in India on May 8.

The two alleged smugglers work regularly on routes to and from Delhi.

Reports suggest that the two may have secret pockets in their luggage for smuggling the gold.

A detailed inquiry has been launched into the fraud.
