Celebrations organised to mark Telagana's first formation day
Numerous venues in Hyderabad as well as Telangana Bhavan in Delhi would be hosting events
Hyderabad: To commemorate the first formation day of Telangana, state's department of Tourism and Culture is organising week-long celebrations from June 2.
A series of programmes will be organised in the capital Hyderabad and across the districts as part of celebrations to mark Telangana's first formation day. There will be cultural and literary programmes on Telangana's culture and struggle (for a separate state)," said Tourism & Culture principal secretary B P Acharya at a event here.
The celebrations involve a range of events that showcases the rich history and culture of Telangana state. Numerous venues in Hyderabad as well as Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi would be hosting these events for the public, marking the maiden state formation day celebrations, he said.
For the first time in Telangana, a 3-D illuminating mapping will be done at Clock Tower, Buddha Statue located in the historic Hussain Sagar lake and Kachiguda railway station in the city, Acharya said.
Starting with floral tributes at martyrs memorial at Gun Park on June 2, the unfurling of the national flag and march past by security forces will be followed by distribution of awards.
Other cultural programmes include classical music shows, events marking Telangana cinema, dance ballet by renowned performers, procession by artists, Telangana food festival, folk songs, yaksha gaanam, ghazals, qawalli, stage performance, comedy shows besides seminars and cultural programmes of various states.
"The idea is to create a mood of festivity, everywhere we want people to celebrate," Acharya added.
State Minister of Tourism and Culture Ajmeera Chandulal today flagged off 'HOP-ON HOP-OFF' bus service, which is designed to cover both historic and tourist destinations of Hyderabad.
This service bus, stops at each locations for few minutes and if the tourist/passengers wants to stay and take a closer look at the location,they can get off and board the next bus 30 minutes later or they can stay on the same bus and tour the city.
