Telangana govt gives nod to multi-layer flyovers
GHMC prepares road development programme
Hyderabad: The Telangana state government has issued orders okaying the construction of multi-level flyovers and junctions at various important places in the Greater Hyderabad jurisdiction in the public-private-partnership mode.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation said that based on a comprehensive transportation study (CTS) for 2041, a strategic road development programme (SRDP) is being formulated.
The programme comprises skyways, major corridors, major roads, other roads and grade separators and flyovers. Out of these, top priority projects are the 20 flyovers and junctions projects at different places within the GHMC limits.
The Telangana state government will float tenders for the first phase of the strategic road development programme, which will cost Rs 4,051 crore. The money will be for civil structures as well as land acquisitions.
Meanwhile, the government has also constituted a project monitoring unit to finalise the documents to conduct the bidding process, evaluate the bids and monitor the projects. The unit will seek expert assistance from experienced consultants.
“Land and property acquisitions will be expedited immediately for the SRDP projects. Also, the tenders will be called for under the annuity mode in view of the huge investments estimated under the design-build-maintain-transfer system,” added Somesh Kumar, the GHMC commissioner.
