No contestant yet for formidable Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa
Jayalalithaa continues to look formidable in the labour-dominated R K Nagar bypoll
Chennai: With national and regional Opposition parties in Tamil Nadu not ready to contest and a few Independents seeking their support, Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa continues to look formidable in the labour-dominated R K Nagar bypoll.
The BJP, which contested in Srirangam, is also likely to pull out from the race and there were no talks or meetings within the Tamil Nadu party members on Saturday hinting that the NDA might also stay away from the high profile constituency.
Earlier in the day, CPI’s state unit said the party would take a decision on bypoll on Monday. However, senior party leader R. Nallakannu told reporters that CPI would not support the ruling AIADMK in bypoll and maintained that the state council would meet and take a decision.
