When Ali got offended at Nandi Awards function
Actor was supposed to contest for the Rajahmundry Assembly in the last elections
Hyderabad: Popular comedian Ali was in an angry mood on Sunday after he was stopped by cops while trying to enter through the VIP entrance meant for MPs and MLAs at the Nandi Awards for theatre at Rajahmundry. Though the actor argued with them, the cops refused to let him in and he had to enter the auditorium through a separate entrance. Later, local Telugu Desam MP, Murali Mohan, who had attended as a special guest, apologised to Ali for the inconvenience. “They stopped Ali at the VIP entrance and he was very upset about it. I am sorry about the incident,” said Mohan.
Speaking about the incident, an angry Ali said, “I am a native of Rajahmundry and this function belongs to arts and as an artiste, I attended it. When Mukesh Ambani walks on a road, no one may identify him, but I am not like that. If I walk on a road, people from any part of the world will identify me and come to me,” he said, adding, “I was invited to many programmes, but I didn’t go and gave this top priority. I missed my flight, but I still travelled by road and attended it. What value have they given me?”
Interestingly, the actor was supposed to contest for the Rajahmundry Assembly in the last elections on a TDP ticket, but the party assured to give him a ticket in the next elections.
