Mobile App for Telangana Tiger conservation
The app will have many features
Hyderabad: Tiger conservation in Telangana will get a new dimension with the use of smartphones.
The Telangana forest department is working towards procuring Android-based smartphones which will be used by forest guards in the two tiger reserves of the state, Kawal and Amrabad.
These smartphones will be loaded with custom made apps, which will be the keystone of this new conservation measure. The app will have many features, most important of which is that the it will be able to track movement of forest guards on patrol inside the forests.
A senior forest department official said, “As of now, forest guards inform their seniors verbally about which areas they covered in their daily beat rounds. However, there is no method to verify their claims. With the custom-made app, we will be able to get a recorded proof of the areas they inspected.”
