The song Pularumo Ravozhiyumo…. from Shyamaprasad’s cult film Rithu, had at one time made waves among Malayalis. However, only a few know that the voice behind the song was Suchith Suresan. Suchith is now busy singing Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu songs. His life is all about music.

Talking about his journey, Suchith says, “Music was there all around me. I was taking music classes from when I was in school and when I completed my schooling, I realised that I was not good at anything except music. My first debut was in the Tamil film Sadhu Miranda under the guidance of Deepak Dev. He is the person who opened doors and started me on a career in music.”

Since then, there has been no looking back. He got an opportunity to work with ace musicians like Ousepachan, Harris Jayaraj and others. “Working with musicians like Ousepachan and Harris Jayaraj was an amazing experience. I have worked with Harris sir for 7am Arivu and Nanban. Though they are veterans who have given us many soulful melodies, they are never proud of their success. Each time they make music they focus and put in a lot of  effort. Success never made them stray from their goal of being good musicians and that is what I learnt from them,” says Suchith, a native of Thiruvananthapuram.

Suchith feels that playback singing is not getting its due recognition like it did in earlier times. “Just like the story of a film, music is also an integral part of a film. Hence, when the composers made music, they would be given enough time and space to create their best. Earlier, singers had a chance to hear the music, see the situation that went with the music and practice before recording. But now, everything is done very fast and a singer does not even get a day to work on the music which in fact affects a singer’s rendition of a song.”

His last song in Malayalam was Sapthamashree Thaskaraha. Suchith is now working with his bands Udaan and Paper Planes where he sings and composes music. “The band Udaan was started when I was in college. I am now working with Paper Planes on their next song.”
