Hyderabad: Two people were killed in an accident near the Professor Jayashankar Agriculture University on Monday. The mishap occurred when an overspeeding car, coming from Gaganpahad, rammed into a pick-up van, which was parked by the roadside, near the Yellamma temple.

The incident occurred at around midnight. Police identified the dead as Rajesh, 26, a resident of Aramgarh, and Prakash, 44, a native of Odisha. Three others —Jagadesh, Srikanth and Srinivas Raju — were injured. The driver of the pick-up, Khaja Moinuddin, suffered a fracture on his right hand. The pick-up van was transporting fish from Mahbubnagar to Begum Bazaar. After crossing the traffic signal at Gaganpahad, the driver stopped the vehicle to relieve himself. “Five friends started in a car after attending a function at BK Gardens in Gaganpahad. Rajesh was driving the car. They were drunk and the car was overspeeding,” said Rajendranagar SI Srinivas.
