Happy Birthday Telangana! Week-long mega fest sets off
Week-long festivities will highlight rich culture & its 6-decade old struggle for statehood
Hyderabad: Telangana is geared up to celebrate the first anniversary of Telangana Formation Day on Tuesday in dhoom dhaam style. With the TRS government, headed by K. Chandrasekhar Rao also completing one year in office the same day, it has drawn elaborate plans to ensure celebrations on a grand scale.

The week-long festivities will highlight the rich culture of the state and its six-decade old struggle for statehood. A festive spirit hangs over Hyderabad and the other nine districts with the Raj Bhavan, Telangana Secretariat, Assembly, CM’s camp office in Begumpet, government buildings and historic monuments being illuminated.

All major roads, junctions in the city and districts wore a festive look as they are decorated with colourful flowers, banners and lighting.

The festivities started on June 1 midnight with fireworks at 12 selected places in Hyderabad. Principal secretary, tourism and culture, B.P. Acharya said 3D illuminated mapping had been done at three places in Hyderabad — Secunderabad Clock Tower, Buddha statue in Hussainsagar and Kacheguda Railway Station.

The CM will launch the celebrations by paying tributes to Telangana-martyrs at Gun Park at 9 am.
