Mr Ashok outlined the urgent need for introduction of sex education at the high school level
Belagavi: The state government may introduce sex education in high school textbooks from the next academic year if the proposal sent by Karnataka Mental Health Task Force gets the nod. According to Dr K.A. Ashok, the introduction of sex-education in high schools is almost certain from the next academic year in the state.
At a press conference in Vijaypur, Mr Ashok outlined the urgent need for introduction of sex education at the high school level and said, the government has responded well to the proposal sent by the task force highlighting the importance of the issue.
How to impart sex education to students is something the teachers concerned need to know well. Effective guidance on the teaching methodology to be adopted will be given to the teachers with the help of psychiatrists and social scientists before the government takes any measure to introduce sex-education in textbooks, he explained.
Mr Ashok also said some elements are trying to oppose such education and its implementation.
