Food festival, cultural shows planned
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will unfurl the national flag at 9.30 am and take the salute of a parade at the main official function to be held at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad and address the gathering.
An 80-feet tall Telangana martyrs memorial, set up by Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd at Parade Grounds, will enable people to pay tribute. A cultural programme and presentation of tableaux highlighting the culture and history of Telangana will be held.
Films of noted filmmakers from Telangana like Shyam Benegal and S. Narsing Rao will be screened at Lalita Kala Toranam.
Artistes of Telangana’s ‘Sanskrutika Sarathi’ headed by noted dhoom dhaam artiste and TRS MLA Rasamayi Balakishna will embark on a ‘Telangana Sanskrutika Jaitrayatra’, covering two districts a day.
The yatra will begin at Necklace Road in Hyderabad on June 2 and return to Tank Bund in Hyderabad on June 7 for the valedictory programme, in which more than 5,000 artistes will participate. Noted ghazal singer Ghulam Ali will perform at the Charminar on June 5. A TS food festival ‘Dawat-e-Hyderabad’ will be held at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road at 7 pm.
In Ravindra Bharati, a programme to highlight the role of literature in T-movement has been organised from 10 am to 5 pm.
In Shilparamam, cultural programmes highlighting dance forms of states would be held from 6.30 pm.
In Lalitha Kalathoranam, Public Garden, the film ‘Ankur’ will be screened. The Telangana Golf Association will host the first inter-state Golf Championship at Hyderabad Golf Association from June 2 to 5. The authorities have also planned water sports Regatta.
In Shilparamam, cultural programmes highlighting the dance forms of various states would be held from 6.30 pm.
