TRS plans to convene a special session of Assembly to discuss on cash for vote scam
Hyderabad: The ruling TRS is planning to convene a special session of the Assembly to take up discussion on the cash for vote scam involving TDP legislator A. Revanth Reddy and adopt a resolution for his expulsion from the membership of the House.
It is reliably learnt that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday discussed the plan with legislative affairs minister T. Harish Rao and finance minister Etela Rajender.
According to sources, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao reportedly said that the House cannot function when a sitting member indulges in cash for vote with another member of the same House until severe action is taken against the errant member.
The CM told the leaders that in 2005 when a few MPs resorted to cash for questions, Parliament took the issue seriously and expelled them. The SC in 2007 upheld the decision. The EC conducting byelections to the vacant seats, he said.
TRS leadership came to the view that the Telangana Assembly has every right to discipline its own members under Article 191, like Article 105 for MPs.
