BENGALURU: Nyayakgagi Naavu Association has requested the government to regularise lottery and betting as a ban has led to illegal activities. Association president Agni Sridhar said, “Lottery ban will only tempt people to get more involved in betting, it will not benefit anyone. Siddaramaiah government has made a wrong decision to suspend Alok Kumar, who is a sincere police officer. Politicians make use of the situation just merely to gain sympathy from the public and get in their good books,” he said.

“The main reason to ban lottery was to benefit the weaker sections of the society, however, the ban is affecting daily wage workers and auto drivers negatively. Instead of banning lottery completely, we suggest the government form committees and discuss the pros and cons of lottery and take steps accordingly,” he added.

He also condemned the state’s move to refer the probe of lottery scam to the CBI. “When there is a CID in the state to investigate, why did the state government handover the case to the CBI? Are the state police so corrupt?,” he questioned.
