The war of words between Nadigar Sangam president Sarath Kumar and actors Nasser and Vishal was the talk of town for the past few weeks. Under these circumstances, Sarath Kumar announced that the elections for the South Indian Film Artistes’ Association, i.e., the SIAA or Nadigar Sangam, will be held on July 2015.

Advocate J. Selvarasan was appointed as the election officer for the Nadigar Sangam elections which will be held at the Music Directors Association’s office at Vadapalani. Sarath Kumar has been at the helm of the association for the past three tenures. Although an official announcement has not been made, sources say that he plans to contest the elections this time as well, for the post of president.

Vishal, who has been an active member, recently,  protested against the decision of Sarath Kumar and Radha Ravi to construct a multiplex on the sprawling lands owned by the Nadigar Sangam Charitable Trust on Habibullah Road in T. Nagar, in partnership with SPI cinemas. The building proposal was put on hold by the court after Poochi Murugan, a member of the SIAA, obtained a stay on the proposed plan.

Reportedly, Vishal and Nasser will run for the posts of secretary and president. When we contacted Vishal, he said, “Personally, I am not against the head honchos of SIAA. The forthcoming election will be conducted like a star night. I have not decided which position I should contest for. My entire team, who has come together for the cause of raising a permanent building for Nadigar Sangam, People like Nasser, Arya, Ponvannan, Jiiva, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Anand Raj and Mansoor Ali Khan, will contest, and are confident of winning.”
