Makeover in store for government hospital
The people in the city are going to see another side once it all is done
Vijayawada: The old government hospital in Hanumanpet, is soon going to have a new image after the state government announced a whooping amount of Rs 16.3 crore for the hospital treasury. The people in the city who have scant respect for government hospitals are going to see another side once it all is done. “Infrastructure and facilities in the hospitals has improved consistently since December, when B.V. Uma took charge as the chairman of the hospital,” said senior staff members.
The gynaecology department, which wore a tacky look with barely any facilities, has now been converted into a smart department with good facilities to care for the patients from surrounding districts. “Recently, the government granted Rs 6.3 crore in two instalments to the hospital to improve the infrastructure like beds and other urgent repairs in hospital and Rs 5 crore was given for the gynaecology department.
More grants are expected from Child and Medical Health Organisation, said chairman B.V. Uma. Elaborating on the issue, chairman Mr. Uma outlined all the projects and plans that is in store for the old hospital. “With the help of private operators, we are planning to launch MRI scanning unit in the hospital to give better services at low cost, similar to the KGH in Vizag,” he said.
He also requested citizens to avail the facilities in government hospitals as it is their right and also said all the facilities are being implemented on par with corporate hospitals.
