VS Achuthanandan demands Oommen Chandy’s resignation
The opposition leader said there was no rule of law in the state
Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan on Thursday sought the resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the wake of CBI finding that his former gunman Salim Raj had misused power in the land scam.
At a press conference here, Mr Achuthanandan said the chief minister had entrusted Salim Raj only with the powers of a personal staff.
So the big question is what are the powers that he misused?
“People of the state had entrusted the chief minister’s responsibility with Oommen Chandy. He is solely responsible if his powers have been misused by his personal staff,” he said.
The opposition leader said there was no rule of law in the state. Several organisations were fleecing and defrauding people in the name of non banking financial institutions.
A complaint against a prominent jeweller regarding a fraud worth Rs 2000 crore had been given to the Home Minister and the latter had handed it over to the police.
However, since the complainant had not met the chief minister and home minster in the “required manner”, the complaint is now missing from police files.
