Mumbai: Popular Telugu actress Aarthi Aggarwal passed away on Saturday. According to her manager Uma Shankar, the actress was pronounced dead at around 1 am in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. “One month ago, she suffered from some breathing problem and went for a minor operation. She was fine, but last night she complained of chest pain and informed her father. They took her to the hospital, but before she reached the hospital she died on the way,” said the manager.

Aarthi Aggarwal is one actress who became a big star overnight. Her first Telugu film ‘Nuvvu Naku Nachav’ turned out to be a huge hit. Following the success of her debut, offers were pouring in for her. Getting used to the fame, the actress was also involved in a few controversies at the time. Born and brought up in New Jersey, USA, she entered the film industry when she was just 15. Her parents have their own hotel business in the USA.

Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty first discovered her at a concert in USA and advised her to try her hand at acting. When Aarthi visited Mumbai for vacations she joined the Asha Chandra acting school. Rakesh Nath introduced her opposite his son Karan Nath in ‘Paagalpan’. After which Telugu producer Suresh Babu and director Jayanth approached her for Tollywood films and she was signed for the film ‘Nuvvu Naku Nachav’.

In March 2005, the actress allegedly attempted suicide, consuming a bathroom cleaning liquid. Her alleged affair with actor Tarun was the reason for her suicide attempt. She reportedly had a small fight with her father and attempted suicide. However the news was never confirmed.

In another controversy in February 2006, the actress had a suspected fall from the staircase in her house. Rumours were abuzz that the actress tried to commit suicide again, but her father denied the reports and said she fell from the steps while she was going to her room. She was admitted to a private hospital in a critical condition.

In November 2007, the actress married an NRI Ujwal Aggarwal. She didn’t make any statement about her marriage and surprised everyone. Post marriage the actress left for USA and after couple of years she got a divorce and returned to Hyderabad.
