Guntur: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said he was committed to develop new capital Amaravati as the best trade, education and tourism centre of the world in the coming days.

Naidu along with his wife Bhuvaneswari performed the land puja for new capital at 8.49 am in the 136 survey number farmland near Mandadam of capital region.

Amidst chanting of priests, Naidu and Bhuvaneswari performed the puja in a 3-feet-wide pit with gold-coated trowel and silver gamela.

Telugu actor, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh, Union Minister for Commerce Niramala Sitharaman, MPs, MLAs and farmers were among those present at the event.

Naidu said that the land puja would be written in gold letters in world history, as Amaravati would emerge the top modern capital of the world.

He also thanked farmers of 29 villages of capital region for offering 33,600 acres of farmlands for new capital establishment.

“The opportunity of building the new capital would not come to everybody, but it has come to 5 crore Telugu people and they are taking this as challenge to build world’s biggest ultramodern capital better than Singapore,” he said.

Mentioning about the donation of 33,600 acres of farmlands under Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) for new capital establishment, he added that this LPS would stand as a model for the country.

Claiming that he fostered IT growth in Hyderabad and Cyberabad, Naidu assured that he would not flinch from world capital task despite hurdles from opposition parties.

Nirmala Sitharaman also assured cooperation from the Centre for construction of the new capital.
