Andhra Pradesh bans maggi, Telangana awaits report
No public eatery should supply it, none should sell it - Poonam Malakondaiah
Hyderabad: Acting on the directions of the National Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), the Andhra Pradesh government has banned Maggi noodles.
“Yes, we ordered recall the total recall of all the nine approved variants of Maggi including the maggie masala oats. No public eatery should supply it, none should sell it. If it is found that the noodles are still sold, stringent action will be taken on the persons concerned” Poonam Malakondaiah, principal secretary of agriculture and food safety told Deccan Chronicle.
Meanwhile, Telangana State and will decide on action against Maggi after test results are received on Monday. Telangana government officials said the results from Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM) will only be available on Monday and if the levels of Monosodium Glutamate and lead are not within permissible limits, penal action will be taken against the multi-national company.
Telangana Health department Principal Secretary Suresh Chanda said, “The samples have been sent for test. Results will come on Monday. Based on that we will take action.”
