BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court on Friday sought to known from the central government (Railways) its response to a PIL seeking introduction of special trains between Bengaluru and Mangaluru.
The high court was hearing the PIL seeking directions for special trains and wagons. The PIL argued that those travelling by road have to take a circuitous route because of repairs on Shiradi Ghat. The court wanted to know why no special trains had been introduced, though the Shiradi Ghat has been closed for a long time.
Notice to Comed-K
The high court on Friday ordered notices to the Chief Executive of Comed-K after Mr Tamil Selvan and another petitioner challenged a Comed-K rule that makes 50 percentage marks in English mandatory to appear for the entrance test for medical seats.
The petitioner argued that the rule is unfair to those students who were not good in English. The case was adjourned to June 10.
BBMP polls
The High Court on Friday directed the state government to seek clarification from a single judge bench that ordered it to hold BBMP elections before May 20 as per the reservation list that was prepared on the basis of 2001 census. The Karnataka State Commission for SC/STs had challenged the reservation list. The court disposed of the plea.
