Tamil Nadu leads in school enrolment

Tamil Nadu has achieved a gross enrollment ratio of 42 per cent

COIMBATORE: Tamil Nadu has achieved a gross enrollment ratio of  42 per cent gross enrollment ratio (GER) in schools, far exceeding the national average, which  is only 20 per cent, said Prof H. Devaraj, vice chairman, University Grants Commission. 
 
He was taking part in the graduation day programme of Hindustan College of  Engineering and Technology. Dr T. Kannadasan, college principal, said the college had signed an MoU with 25 leading companies. 
 
About 70 per cent of the students have got placements in leading corporates such as CTS, Infosys, TCS, Tessolve Semiconductors, Tech Mahindra, L&T Infotech, IBM and Sutherland Global Services. As many as 52 university rank holders of various disciples were awarded the gold medals and 830 graduates were presented with certificates.
