Toor dal at fair price
State plans to supply the dal as it costs Rs 130 in market
Nellore: In view of the skyrocketing prices pulses especially Toor Dal (Kandi Pappu), which is costing around Rs 130 per kg in the market, the state government has imported the dal in bid to supply to the white card holders for Rs 50 per kg. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu revealed this while addressing a public meeting during Janmabhoomi – Maa Vooru programme held at Sangam in SPSR Nellore district on Friday.
Referring to their efforts to connect villages across the state with Optical Fibre Network, he said that they are planning to offer cable TV and broadband connection with 10-15 mbps download speed for '100 to the villagers by December this year. The crowd burst into peels of laugher when the CM said in a lighter vein that they can see two movies of their choice simultaneously if they have two television sets at home. There was another round of laughs when he said women can cook new dishes watching TV and students can catch up the classes they have bunked if they have OFC network connection.
He said that AP is the first state for laying optical fibre cable under Digital India Project at an estimated cost of Rs 5000 crore and the Centre had agreed to provide 90 per cent of the project cost.
The CM was visibly pleased when a farmer said that he is God like to them while pointing to loan waiver scheme when the CM asked whether they are cursing him on the issue.
The farmer said that he borrowed Rs 1.50 lakh crop loan in the past and Rs 30,000 was credited as first instalment from the government side. He dwelt at length on the Irrigation projects on the anvil and assured to enhance the capacity of Pothireddypadu head regulator and widen the canals en route to Somasila to carry 60,000 to 65,000 cusecs as against present 44,000 cusecs.
The CM also promised to complete the Sangam anicut works without further delay. Minister Dr P. Narayana, MP Mek-apati Rajamohan Reddy, legislators K. Ramak-rishna, Polamreddy Srin-ivasulu Reddy, Mekapati Gowtham Reddy and MLC Vakati Narayana Reddy were present among others.
