Jagga Jasoos in deep trouble
The makers have decided to alter the storytelling format of the film
Jagga Jasoos, Anurag Basu’s first co-production with Ranbir Kapoor, seems to be in trouble. After shooting 60 per cent of the film, the makers have decided to alter the storytelling format of the film. This is because Jagga Jasoos was to be a full-blown musical with conversational songs spread across the narrative, but the filmmakers recently found out that Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is also making a musical called Mirziya, where the lead actors sing their hearts out.
This means that Anurag may have to re-shoot 50 per cent of the film. Says a source associated with the film, “They are re-doing most of the film and Ranbir is very tensed. The same thing happened with Basu’s Barfi where a lot of re-shooting was involved.”
The film also suffered a blow when Govinda, who was roped in to play Ranbir’s father, abandoned the project. Says the source, “Govinda was never too keen to play RK’s father, but Anurag coaxed and convinced him that he’d be playing a dad to a 17-year-old. When the role didn’t quite shape up like what he had been told, he walked out of the film leaving the makers to scout for a replacement.” With no one willing to step in, Rishi Kapoor may have to do the needful.
