Isha Foundation plans yoga at 1 lakh places

Coimbatore: Isha Foundation has proposed to impart free yoga sessions at one lakh locations across the world to mark the International Day of Yoga (IDY) as declared by United Nations. The yoga sessions will be imparted throughout the month of June.
Speaking to media persons, Jaggi Vasudev said that this is the first time ever that 177 countries unanimously voted 'yes' on the issue which indicates the stage is set for a resurgence of Yoga. The yoga sessions have been specially designed so that they are accessible to the general public. These 5-minute practices are centered on six themes: health, peace, love, success, joy and inner exploration.
Each theme offers a short background and a simple routine that can make a significant difference to the wellbeing of the practitioner. About 35,600 volunteers have been trained to conduct these routines across the globe, he said.
These sessions are also being offered online at www.Yogayoga.org. The events will be conducted in 1,00,000 locations across the globe. The ground locations and digital deluge is estimated to touch between 50 and 100 million people.
In TN alone, awareness about yoga and its benefits will be spread to crores of people. Isha has partnered with the Commercial Tax department in Chennai where over 40 sessions are planned to cover 2,000 people.
Isha is also partnering with several corporate companies like TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, TVS group, Murugappa Group, Bharat Matrimony and many more, where yoga is being taught to all the employees.
Apart from this, yoga is being offered to corporation schools, colleges and institutions throughout TN. On the occasion of International Day of Yoga, Isha Foundation will conduct free workshops in your city. These workshops are an hour-and-a-half long and will guide you through a set of yogic practices customised for health, peace, joy, love, success and more.
In Pondicherry, the sessions will be held on International Day for Yoga (June 21) in the presence of CM N.Rangasamy. In Coimbatore, the session will be held in the presence of Minister S.P Velumani at Sri Krishna College of Arts and Science and in Nagercoil, Union minister of state for road transport and highways Pon Radhakrishnan will be present.
