KARIMNAGAR: A 35-year-old man drowned as he attempted to save his elder brother’s wife who jumped in a well to commit suicide. According to information, earlier, the man beat his sister-in-law over a petty issue after which she jumped into the well as she was allegedly unable to bear the insult.
The incident occurred at Keshavapur in Elkathurthi village on Saturday. Elkathurthi sub-inspector V. Uday Kumar said that Bontha Ravi, a daily-wage laborer, drowned while trying to save his 35-year-old sister-in-law, Bontha Vinoda, whom he assaulted over some issue.
Ravi thrashed Vinoda for stopping him from punishing his daughter for quarreling with his son. After she was assaulted by her brother-in-law, Vinoda, in fit of rage, jumped into the well located near her residence.
Vinoda was married to Ravi’s elder brother, who migrated to Dubai, 15 years ago. Based on a complaint from Vinoda’s father, police registered a case which was being investigated.
