RTC to run 300 buses for pushkarams
The officials are also planning to allow a-bout 2,000 auto-rickshaws to ply in city

Rajahmundry: The state-run RTC will operate as many as 300 buses to ferry the devotees free of charge to the bathing ghats during the ensuing Godavari Pushkaralu in city. As curbs will be imposed vehicular traffic, the RTC will run 300 services to transport the devotees to the temporary parking slots arranged near bathing ghats.
The authorities are expecting about 500 buses to reach the city carrying the devotees from various parts in the state and they would be directed to six parking slots. From there, the devotees will be transported in RTC buses to the bathing ghats and the city is divided into 10 routes. The officials are also planning to allow a-bout 2,000 auto-rickshaws to ply in city and the fare will be regulated.
Besides, as the devotees visit several temples located at Annavar-am, Kotipalli, Antarvedi and other pilgrimage centres, the authorities planning to allow metered cabs with fixed fare dep-ending on the distance.
Speaking at a meeting held to review the arrangements here on Saturday, Godavari Pushkaralu special officer K. Dhanunjaya Reddy asked the RTC and police authorities to conduct a joint inspection on setting up temporary bus shelters and parking slots and transport the devotees to the bathing ghats without causing any trouble to them. He said that as many as 24 LED screens and several information centres would be set up for the benefit of devotees to give information to them.
