ADILABADThe Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC), for the first time since its formation, has rejected a file regarding proposal on recruitment  of field-level staff in the forest department. The TPSC officials turned down the proposal citing ‘wrong method’ of selection of candidates. The forest department has proposed to conduct the written test first and physical test later as against the usual practice of physical test first and written test later.

It is learnt that the members and chairman of the TPSC are being extra cautious with regard to conducting examinations to recruit for various jobs in different departments as they fear they will have to face the ire of the unemployed youth if anything goes wrong in the process of recruitment.

The TPSC members feel that the forest department’s proposal to conduct written exam first and physical test later would give a chance for anomalies in the recruitment process. They feel  the forest officials will select candidates according to their wish, giving scope for irregularities, once the candidates clear the written examination.

According to sources in the TSPSC, members of the commission took up the file for scrutiny sent by the forest department and rejected the method of recruitment proposed for recruitment of forest beat officer (FBO), assistatnt beat officer and forest section officer (FSO).

The Telangana forest department is planning to fill up posts which have been lying vacant for a long time to strengthen vigilance and check teak smuggling and to increase green cover in the state.
The TPSC members opine the method of recruitment proposed by the forest department is wrong as even in the Army, it is the physical fitness test which is conducted first.
The commission members even took the issue to the notice of minister for forests and environment Jogu Ramanna. Now, the officials of the forest department are re-working on recuritment method and fresh proposal will be sent soon.
