Actor Arun Kumar’s driver arrested
Booty worth Rs 6.6 lakh was recovered from him
Hyderabad: The crime team of the Jubilee Hills police has solved the house burglary case of actor Arun Kumar Dasari's son on Sunday by arresting his driver for the crime. Booty worth Rs 6.6 lakh was recovered from him.
The accused, Nallamatty Achammagari Praveen Kumar Reddy, 30, is a resident of Mailardevpally in Rajendranagar. He belongs to Peddamun-galachat village in Mahbubnagar district.
Police said Praveen Kumar Reddy was working in the actor's house since five years and is addicted to alcohol and other vices. As he was facing financial problems he hatched a plan to steal from his employer's house.
“He made a duplicate of the main door key. He was familiar with the house and details of valuables. When the owners were absent he entered the house using the duplicate key. He stole '2 lakh cash, Rolex, Rado watches, gold earrings, a diamond ring and one cellphone,” said Banjara Hills division ACP D. Uday Kumar.
The residents who were on vacation returned last week and realised what had happened. Based on a complaint lodged on June 1 a case was booked. During the investigation many suspects were picked up and police zeroed in on Praveen Kumar Reddy. He was taken into custody and he confessed.
Officials said they had a tough time during the investigation as the premises did not have surveillance cameras. “There were no cameras in the house or surroundings. Even after repeated requests and awareness programmes citizens don't take this seriously. Surveillance cameras help a lot in crime detection,” said detective inspector K. Muttu.
