BJP slams Antony for bestowing A+ on UDF
Salim Raj lambasted the UDF Government
Thiruvananthapuram: BJP State president V. Muraleedharan demanded that senior Congress leader A. K. Antony should explain as to how he gave A + for the UDF Government’s development when only weeks ago he had opined that it was corrupt all-around.
He was speaking at a convention by senior BJP leader O. Rajagopal’s at Aruvikkara. Sarbananda Sonowal, union minister of youth affairs and sports, who inaugurated the BJP convention claimed that good governance could be delivered only by the BJP Government.
On Saturday while inaugurating the UDF’s convention at Aruvikkara, Antony had said that the UDF Government would get A+ for development. The BJP state president asked how a leader of Antony’s stature could change his earlier statement when he himself had criticized the Oommen Chandy Government.
He said Antony was speaking for those people who were working as wholesale dealers of corruption. “Antony is speaking with communal polarization in mind. People of Aruvikkara have realized Antony’s hypocrisy and opportunistic politics”, said Muraleedharan.
Sonowal without mentioning Salim Raj who is accused in the Kadakampally land grab case, lambasted the UDF Government. He alleged that the UDF Government was neck deep in corruption and it was high time people were saved from it.
“People in Kerala are known for their literacy and culture where they have proved their mettle in various fields. The Government should explain to them where it stands in terms of development. But the BJP Government at the centre which was in power for a year has portrayed clean governance,” Sonowal said. He added that the BJP central leadership was taking the Aruvikkara by-election very seriously.
Meanwhile, BJP general secretary K. Surendran distributed the resolution passed by the CPM secretariat by the then secretary Pinarayi Vijayan before their State committee meeting. In that resolution, Pinarayi had alleged that Opposition leader V. S. Achuthanandan has been taking an anti-party stand whenever the UDF Government was facing issues. The LDF leaders are peeved with the BJP over distributing their party resolution particularly when V.S. is expected to campaign for LDF candidate M. Vijayakumar.
