Seven collectorates to switch to e-office

Thiruvananthapuram: After the successful launch of e-office in almost all the government offices, the state government has decided to implement the nation-wide e-governance application in district collectorates.

In the first phase, e-office will be implemented at seven district collectorates and six sub collectorates. Kottayam, Ernakulam, Kannur, Pathanamthitta, Wayand, Malappuram and Kozhikode district collectorates and Tirur, Thalassery, Ottapalam, Fort Kochi, Alappuzha and Mananthavady sub collectorates are switching over to e-office in first phase. Kerala State IT Mission is taking the steps for e-office implementation.

Developed by National Informatics Centre, e-Office has been already fully implemented in many government departments like Finance, Information Technology, Store Purchase, Local Self Government Department and Health. It is in various stages of implementation in all the other 35 odd departments.

E-Office is a nation wide e-governance application under the National E-governance Plan to streamline file management and service delivery system of the government and make it more efficient.

DISTRICT VIRTUAL IT CADRE: In order to ensure smooth implementation of e-office, ten-member District Virtual IT Cadre will be set up in all districts on the lines of a State Virtual IT Cadre recently constituted at the government secretariat for e-officer implementation. The district collectors will nominate officials who have skill and qualification in IT to the cadre. Selected candidates will be imparted training at Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management Kerala. They would would be assigned responsibilities with regard to e-office implementation.
