Dhaka: Barely a day ahead of the one-off cricket Test against India starting Wednesday, Bangladesh team manager Khaled Mahmud has resigned citing family reasons.

A leading Bagladeshi daily, 'Prothom Aalo' quoted sources in Bangladesh Cricket Board as saying that Mahmud has sent his resignation to BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury via an e-mail on Sunday.

BCB cricket operations committee chief Naimur Rahman declined to comment on the matter. He simply said that the issue would be discussed with Mahmud.

Mahmud, a former Bangladesh cricketer, was a medium pacer and middle-order batsman. He represented Bangladesh from 1998 to 2006, leading the team from 2003 to 2004.
