Baby succumbs to burns after hot water falls on her

The mother lost grip and slipped the pot of hot water on the child

Coimbatore: A one and a half year old girl baby died after  pot of steaming, hot water fell on the child. Police said  R. Lakshmi, a resident of Chinniampalayam had suffered burns on 25 May at her house. Her mother R. Sandhiya (20) had boiled water to bathe her baby. She was carrying the sizzling, hotwater in a pot, when the child came running and dashed against her. The mother lost grip and slipped the pot of hot water on the child, the police said.

The baby, which was writhing in pain, was immediately rushed to a private hospital. From there, the child was referred to CMCH for further treatment.

The child however succumbed to burns without responding to treatment. S.R. Chandran, District Fire Officer, Coimbatore said that it was a rare accident where a child had died after piping, hot water fell on her.
