J Jayalalithaa inaugurates check dams, bridges, quarters

She inaugurated employee quarters and other office buildings, all totalling Rs 98.88 crore

ChennaiChief minister Jayalalithaa on Monday inaugurated over Rs 98 crore worth projects including check dams and bridges completed by the public works department.
 
An official release said Ms Jayalalithaa inaugurated through video-conferencing check dams at Tirupur, Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Dindigul, Karur, Theni Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai and Vellore districts, among others.   
 
Check dams have been built in places including across Amaravathi river at Tharapuram Tirupur district, across the Nangachi river at Javadhupatti in Dindigul district and across the Vaigai at Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram district. For the benefit of farmers in Theni district, supply channels have been renovated in the upper Vaigai sub-basin, it said.
 
She also opened a bridge to ease the vehicular movement across the Marudaiyar on  Ambalavar Kattalai-Sundakudi Road in Ariyalur district. Further, she inaugurated employee quarters and other office buildings, all totalling Rs 98.88 crore, it added.
