Karunanidhi on Monday called upon his party cadres to promote self-respect marriage in the state. “Self respect marriages should continue to happen in the state and should strive to make those families, which have accepted such marriage, to prosper,” Mr Karunanidhi said while addressing at the marriage of grandson Arulnidhi at Kalaignar Arangam here.
Arulnidhi, son of Karunanidhi’s younger son M.K. Thamizharasu, got married to Keerthana, daughter of retired Madras high court Judge Kannadasan. Leaders of various political parties from Left to Right graced the marriage.

We will not allow anyone to destroy the movement built on people’s sacrifice,” he said.

Stalin’s invite to all political leaders an example for political decency, BJP state president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan said she came to marriage as she was invited. “I am not bothered about the invitation that was not extended to me,” she said. CPI (M) state secretary G. Ramakrishnan said that his party had always took part in all the functions even if agreed or differed with DMK high command on issues.
“I was happy to participate as it is an inter caste marriage,” he said. Veteran CPI leader R. Nallakannu and VCK president Thol. Thirumavalavan also extended their greeting to the couple.
