Visakhapatnam: There are reports that much-awaited Andhra Pradesh Express train would run from Vijayawada to New Delhi and it would not run via Vizag, which has been the demand from the region since division of state.
Now, netizens in the city have taken to social media to express their ire. It is very unfortunate that AP Express would run from Vijayawada and it would not touch Vizag. "Vizag MP claims that he yet is not aware of the route map of the AP Express. I think Vizag MP doesn't follow newspapers and he had done nothing for Vizag," commented N.S.S. Sarath Chandra.
Similarly, B. Anil Kumar commented on the Facebook, "AP Express to become Telangana Express as the train shuttles between Hyderabad and New Delhi in the name of AP Express, which will be on track soon."
Another Ananth Shyam D.V. pointed out that according to information from various news sources, is it possible for Indian Railways to reach 512 km in two hours. "If AP Express starts from Vijayawada and passes via Khammam to reach New Delhi, it would better the rename the train, as it would hardly pass through only station in AP," commented Tilak Kumar.
Railway sources said that the train would have 18 coaches, two power cars and a pantry car. However, the date of commencement of operation has not been finalised as the election code has come into force in view of MLC elections in the state.
The demand to operate the AP Express from Vizag is not under consideration. “The authorities are making all the arrangements to run the train including Vizag in the route map. It is a gross injustice to people of AP and it is the failure of our MPs,” said an activist who wants the train to be operated through Vizag.
