Vijayawada and Nellore stations will have high speed wi-fi facility soon

NelloreIn a bid to protect the lives of passengers during accidents including fire mishaps in the running trains, railways are coming out with fire retardant and crash resistant coaches.
 
Lucknow-based research, design & development standards organization has been providing the technology where fire retardant coating and mastic sealing compound being used to reduce the intensity of flames.
 
Vijayawada railway divisional manager Ashok Kumar disclosed this during an interaction with media persons after inspecting Nellore railway Station on the occasion of passengers and customers facilitation fortnight (May 26 o June 9) here on Tuesday.
 
He inaugurated two ticket vending machines on east side of the station on the occasion. The passengers can obtain a smart card worth '50 to buy tickets for short distance unreserved tickets from the machine. The card can be purchased/recharged at the enquiry counters.
 
He said that they are going to install 20 cluster taps each at both ends of the platforms for the benefit of passengers travelling in the general bogies to collect water. NGO’s and Welfare associations are invited to provide coolers to provide cool water to the passengers.
 
Referring to wi-fi facility introduced in Secunderabad railway station, he said that Vijayawada and Nellore railway stations will have the high speed wi-fi facility soon. 
First half an hour of use will be free and it is chargeable thereafter.
 
In view of recent robberies on the trains running between Ongole and Nellore during nights, railways have decided to depute armed constables in every train from 6 am to 6 pm henceforth, Mr Ashok Kumar said while appealing the women passenger to avoid carrying or displaying gold during travel.
 
According to the DRM, railways will operate 350 trips to Rajahmundry from different parts of the state including Tirupati during the ensuing Godavari Pushkarams. 
Railway platforms and exit points are being expanded at Kovvur, Godavari and Rajahmundry stations to avoid stampede. Temporary toilets, bathrooms and shelters are also being arranged in these stations for the benefit of passengers.
 
Reacting to a request made by passengers association to change the timings of Simhapuri Express and introduce a train between Tirupati and Shirdi via Nellore apart from train to Delhi from Tirupati, he said that he will take it to the notice of railway board.
 
Senior deputy commercial manger M.V. Satyanarayana, senior DEE Varaprasad, senior PRO F.R. Michael and Nellore station manager S.K. Shahjahan were present with the DRM.
