KARIMNAGAR: Information technology minister K. Taraka Rama Rao cautioned that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would be punished if he does not confess his involvement in the cash for vote controversy. He demanded Mr Naidu to tender apology to the country. He was addressing pressmen after laying foundation stones to different developmental works in Sircilla Assembly constituency on Tuesday.
Commenting on the cash for vote row, Mr Rao said that Mr Naidu was trying to divert the issue by picturising it as a problem of people belonging Andhra Pradesh, although his role was clearly found in it with appropriate evidences.
Mr Naidu, who always makes statements against corruption, is trying to create conflict between the people of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, with the help of his post, he added.
“This is his (Naidu’s) issue, but not the problem of people of Andhra Pradesh. He was caught while trying to purchase legislators like goods in the market. Law will take its own course. Every citizen has to abide by the law. Post of Chief Minister is not a license to indulge in corruption,” fumed the minister.
Referring to Mr Naidu, there is a strong evidence, establishing the role of TD MLA Revanth Reddy, who admitted the offence committed at the behest of his boss, opined Mr Rao.
He faulted the Chief Minister for not responding over Revanth Reddy’s alleged attempt to offer a bribe of Rs 50 lakh to nominated legislator Elvis Stephenson for his vote in MLC elections.
