Surya Namaskar haters should drown: BJP MP Yogi Adityanath

Muslim Law Board to move SC against Yoga diktat; It’s not must, says Rajnath

Lucknow: Strongly reacting to the  All India Muslim Personal Law Board’s (AIMPLB) decision to move the Supreme Court against inclusion of Bhagwad Gita and the compulsory practice of Yoga in schools, BJP MP Yogi Adityanath  said that people who oppose yoga and ‘Surya Namaskar’ should either leave India or drown themselves in ocean.

‘Surya Namaskar’ was a part of yoga, which purifies the mind.  Sun is the source of life giving energy. Whoever thinks Sun is communal, I would like to humbly request them to drown themselves in the sea or they should stay in a dark cell.

“Sun God has never deprived anyone of its light based on caste, creed or religion. Despite that if they are calling sun communal, I feel amused at their mindset,” he said adding, “And my request to them would be that they should not take the sunlight or even its warmth.”

Union home minister Rajnath Singh, who was in Lucknow on Tuesday, said that Yoga should not be linked to any religion or community and the government had no intentions of forcing it on anyone.

“We appeal that maximum people should participate on Yoga Day. A booklet has been released on what to do on that day,” Mr Singh added. “As there is a provision of worshipping only Allah in Islam, the Muslim community has its objections regarding implementing Yoga,  in schools,”AIMPLB spokesman said.

Kanpur yoga without Joshi:

The local unit of BJP will celebrate International Yoga Day on June 21 by holding close to 100 yoga camps in city parks.
However, it was not clear if BJP Margdarshak Mandal member and Kanpur MP Murli Manohar Joshi, will attend any of the camps in his constituency, BJP Kanpur unit president Surendra Maithani said on Tuesday. “Till now he has no programme to attend any of the yoga camps”, Mr Maithani said.
