Aircel waives roaming charges in south india

The offer will be activated by default to existing customers from June 11

Hyderabad: India’s fourth largest GSM telecom player, Aircel on Wednesday announced abolition of roaming charges between the five southern states — AP, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. The offering titled ‘Five States, One Rate’ does not requ-ire any additional rech-arge or pack activation and will be activated by default to existing customers from June 11.

Hardeep Johar, circle business head, AP and Telangana, Aircel said, “customers travelling in southern states will not incur incoming call charges while outgoing calls will be charged at 1 paise per second for both local and STD.” He expects a surge of 10 per cent in its 30 million customer base.
