Say Hi: Motu and Patlu spread some joy amongst their little fans
Hyderabad: Popular cartoon characters Motu and Patlu had a ball with the kids when they came to the Deccan Chronicle office to promote their new film Motu Patlu Kung Fu Kings Return on Wednesday. Over 48 families had come to meet their favourite cartoon characters, and some young fans were so excited that many arrived much before the scheduled time.

Motu and Patlu seem to be popular with all ages. Six-year-old Shreyas Suresh revealed that his mom watches the cartoon more than he does. Shreyas’ mom Bhagyalakshmi said that it is a clean, family show with no vulgarity and no bad language and hence it is a favourite with the entire family.

“In fact, Shreyas’ Hindi has improved after he started watching the cartoon. The cartoon always ends with a good message about friendship, kindness, and other similar qualities,” Bhagyalakshmi says.

One-and-a-half-year-old Vivaan Kabra, probably the youngest fan at the session, was elated at meeting the characters. Manpreet Saine and a few others parents thought that meeting the characters would be a wonderful surprise for their kids and a good break during summer vacations.

Though there were fans galore, Aryan Bomanwar, 6, a self-confessed Power Rangers fan, had come only because he wanted to see a real cartoon character. On the other hand, you had crazy li’l ones like Rithwik Kumar who’d fight with anyone who dared to change channels when the cartoon was on. His father Anil Kumar said, “I am Motu and he’s Patlu when we do their little jig at the end of the show every night.”

The highlight of the day for Gagan Krishnampalli, 4, was getting to shake hands with his favourite cartoons. Humaira Obaid, mother of four-year-old Zain, revealed that her son eats only while watching this particular cartoon show.

While it is difficult to say who is the biggest fan, Manan Aggarwal, 4, can give some tough competition to the others. His mother Preeti said, “Manan has a Motu Patlu schoolbag. He does not watch any other cartoon. Because of him, the entire family has begun to watch the show.” His uncle Mohan Aggarwal adds, “I especially love Motu and Patlu’s friends —  Ghasitaram and Chingum — and also the villain John. These characters have become a part of our family now.”
