New Delhi: The Tamil Nadu government has requested the civil aviation ministry to spruce up Chennai airport before the global investors’ summit scheduled for September this year. AAI is managing the Chennai airport, which is also proposed to be privatised. It has invested around Rs2,500 crore on modernisation and upgrading works.
According to the official, the ministry recently received a request from Tamil Nadu for upgrading the Chennai airport before the global investors’ summit in September.Tamil Nadu expects to attract significant investments through the summit and the state government has already started organising road shows to promote the event. In April, a senior Tamil Nadu government official had said the state expects to attract Rs1,00,000 crore investment from the summit.
The meet, which was initially scheduled for May, was postponed to September, following requests from overseas investors, who had sought more time to finalise the projects.
