Hyderabad: AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s comments in New Delhi that the TRS government would fall if he was arrested drew immediate and sharp response from the TRS leaders here, who accused him of trying to save himself by taking the Centre’s help.

“Naidu has gone to Delhi and is falling at the feet of everyone to save him. It cannot be done. In this country, the law is equal for all. Law is not a relative of PM, CM or any minister. You (Naidu) have done wrong and caught red-handed. Your MLA has been arrested and jailed. If ACB has evidence, it will serve notice, you have to face it. You might be AP CM, but this is not the AP people’s problem. AP people have done no wrong, you have. Why are you indulging in Sikhandi politics,” said TS IT minister K.T. Rama Rao.

“Naidu will not be spared if found guilty. He could be CM of AP, but in TS, he is just an ordinary citizen,” he fumed.

Referring to the replacing of Mr Naidu’s security with personnel from AP, Mr Rama Rao said, “Will he also get water, milk, power, vegetables from AP?” He said that Mr Naidu’s claims that his phone was tapped were proof of his involvement in the vote-for-cash case. “They (TD leaders) are a confused lot. One says it is not their leader’s voice while another says it’s phone tapping. Which is correct? Naidu did not suspend Revanth Reddy from his party even after his arrest, which shows he was behind the scam,” he said.

TRS secretary-general K. Keshava Rao exuded confidence that Centre would not support Mr Naidu. “The tape is very clear. The guilt has been established,” he said.
