Chinese smuggler arrested in Bengaluru
Police teams also arrested interstate smuggler Patan Liyakhat

ANANTAPUR: Kadapa police nabbed another Chinese smuggler Pema Thar, 26, at his temporary residence at Black-IV apartment in Koramangala in Bengaluru in Karnataka on Friday. He was purchasing red sanders dumps from local smugglers to sell in China. Police teams also arrested interstate smuggler Patan Liyakhat and seized Rs 2.70 lakh worth of red sander logs along with a Ford Ikon car.
Kadapa ASP (Operat-ions) Rahuldev Sharma said special police team during vehicle check near Chinnamandem police station on Rayachoti-Madanapalli road seized 101 kg of red sander logs from the Ford Ikon car and nabbed Patan Liyakhat of Katikanahalli in Hoskote taluk in Karnataka. Three more persons P. Sadar, K. Mahaboob Beig and Juber Ali of Karnataka escaped from the spot.
During interrogation, Liyakhat revealed nexus with another international smuggler Pema Thar of China, residing in Bengaluru. Special police team led by Pulivendula ASP Anbu Rajan raided the residence of the Chinese smuggler and seized about 34 kg of 8 red sanders logs from his residence in Koramangala.
As per preliminary information, Mr Pema Thar was purchasing sander logs from Layakhat for smuggling to China. Liyakhat in turn was procuring those from another local smuggler Janardhan Reddy of Rayachoti area in Kadapa district, ASP Mr Rahuldev Sharma informed. Mr Sharma has taken charge as ASP (operations) at SP office in Kadapa. He worked at Parvathipuram in Vijayanagaram district and has been transferred to Kadapa.
