Four persons killed, 11 injured in accident in Jharkhand
The pick up van applied brake to prevent collision but overturned
Jamshedpur: Four members of a marriage party were killed and 11 others were injured when a pick up van overturned near Gopidih in adjoining Seraikela-Kharswan district, a senior police officer on Saturday said.
The pick up van was carrying the members of the marriage party from Galudih, about 35 km from here, to Bababamboo in Seraikela-Kharswan district when the mishap took place.
Superintendent of Police Indrajeet Mahatha said in an attempt to overtake the pick up van, a speeding vehicle coming from behind went ahead and suddenly applied brakes.
The pick up van, which had also picked up speed, applied brake to prevent collision but overturned, he said.
While two persons were killed on the spot, two others succumbed to injuries at the hospital, he said.
The district police personnel immediately rushed the injured to M G M hospital, where doctors referred five seriously injured to Tata Main Hospital, he said.
