THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Hectic campaign continues in Aruvikkara Assembly constituency with major political contestants UDF, LDF and BJP stepping up their electioneering work in eight panchayats of the segment.

A day after chief minister Oommen Chandy toured Vithura and other panchayats in the constituency.

KPCC president V M Sudheeran took charge of the campaign holding public meetings Aruvikkara panahcyat and later in Vellanad.

He also met a cross section of people seeking votes for the UDF Candidate K S Sabarinathan and addressed another meeting at Mylam.

G Karthikeyan’s wife M T Sulekha addressed a meeting of milk producers in Vellanad. The LDF candidate M Vijaykumar carried out election work in in Vellanad and Uzhamalackal panchayat through the day, canvassing votes in localities, junctions and market places.

CPM central committee members P.K. Sreemathy, MP, M.C. Josephine and Shylaja Teacher carried out separate campaign especially among women votes, addressing conventions at three places in the constituency.

CPM led All India Democratic Womens Association (AIDWA),  Mahila Congress and Mahila Morcha have organised campaigns among women voters to attract votes for their respective candidates.

Meanwhile, BJP state president V Muraleedharan led the campaign of O Rajagopal.

He accompanied the candidate in Aruvikkara and Uzhamalackal panchayts, seeking support from the voters. BJP national leaders are expected to join the campaign in the coming days.
