Ex-servicemen to protest over 'One Rank, One Pension' in Delhi today
Ex-servicemen plan to launch relay strikes from Monday in several cities across India
Delhi: Ex-servicemen are turning the heat on the NDA government in their demand for the long-pending One Rank, One-Pension (OROP).
The ex-servicemen plan to stage a huge demonstration at Jantar Mantar in the capital on Sunday to press for their demands. They also plan to go to Rashtrapati Bhavan before the demonstration in a bid to meet President Pranab Mukherjee.
The ex-servicemen are planning to return thousands of medals that they were decorated with during service in case they are able to meet the President today. It remains to be seen whether any top leader from the Congress or the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) attends the demonstration at Jantar Mantar to lend political support.
The ex-servicemen plan to launch relay strikes from Monday in several cities across India, adding that they have lost patience over the “delay” by the government in announcing the grant of OROP.
